Motor insurance eligibility rules

Some conditions must be met so that you are eligible to purchase this insurance.

The insured persons

Rules concerning the policyholder

Age: at least 18 years old.
Residence: main residence in the Netherlands.
Driving licence: valid driving licence in the Netherlands.
Aggravation factors:
- Number of accidents at fault.
- Previous withdrawal of driving licence or evidence of driving under influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
- Previous cancellation of policy by an insurer.

Rules concerning the main or additional driver

Age: at least 18 years old.
Residence: main residence in the Netherlands.
Driving licence: valid driving licence in the Netherlands.
Aggravation factors:
- Number of accidents at fault.

The vehicle

The country of registration of your vehicle must be the same as the country of the cover.
Commercial use is not allowed. Insurance cover is not provided for vehicles used for commercial passenger transport (e.g. taxi, Uber) or commercial hire.
No insurance cover is provided for diplomatic vehicles/plates.
Your vehicle to be insured must be ET7, ET5 or EL7.
The insured vehicle may exceed the number of kilometers indicated at the time of purchase of the insurance and driven during the covered period, but the premium will be increased accordingly.
Your vehicle must meet all legal and regulatory requirements for driving in areas where liability insurance is mandatory.
