Motor insurance eligibility rules

The insured person

The policyholder must:

Be at least 18 years old
Have their primary residence in the Netherlands
Have a valid driver's licence in the Netherlands
Things that might affect your insurance policy:
- Number of at-fault accidents
- Previous withdrawal of your driver's licence or evidence of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication
- Previous cancellation of an insurance policy by an insurer

The main driver & any additional drivers must:

Be at least 18 years old
Have their primary residence in the Netherlands
Have a valid driver's licence in the Netherlands
Things that might affect your insurance policy:
- Number of at-fault accidents

The vehicle

The country your vehicle is registered in must be the same as the insurance cover
Commercial use is not allowed. Insurance cover is not provided for vehicles used for commercial passenger transport (e.g. taxi, Uber) or commercial hire.
No insurance cover is provided for diplomatic vehicles/plates.
Your insured vehicle must be ET7, ET5 or EL7.
The insured vehicle may exceed the number of kilometres indicated at the time you purchase the insurance, but the premium will be increased accordingly.
Your vehicle must meet all legal and regulatory requirements for driving in areas where liability insurance is required.
